Public Works Divisions
Lake Countys Mission is to provide the People of Lake County a consistent, high level of service in public works and contribute to the vitality of the region while protecting and enhancing the quality of life in Lake County.
- Administration/Finance
The mission of the Administration and Finance Division is to deliver consistent, high-quality public works services to the people of Lake County, supporting the region’s vitality while protecting and enhancing the county’s quality of life.
- Airport
Lampson Field is a general aviation airport and the sole public use facility in Lake County. The Public Works Department oversees the operation, maintenance, and improvements to the Airport. Lampson Field is located in the Western part of Lake County approximately 2.2 miles from the edge of Clear Lake and 3.3 miles south of Lakeport which is the County seat.
- Engineering & Inspection
The Engineering and Inspection Division is responsible for the design and construction of a wide variety of Public Works Projects, traffic engineering, transportation planning and consultation, and coordination with the public and private sectors regarding Public Works construction practices and procedures.
- Heavy Equipment/Fleet Maintenance
This division is charged with administering the state-mandated Biennial Inspection Terminal (BIT) program that consists of complete detailed inspections of the fleet's commercial trucks every 90 days, performing a proficiency test of every employee designated to drive these trucks, keeping accurate weekly records on the operation and maintenance of these vehicles for review by the California Highway Patrol, responding to the additional legal aspects required by the program.
- Roads Maintenance
The Road Maintenance Division is responsible for protecting and maintaining 615.58 centerline miles of public roads, 125 bridges, and numerous major drainage structures in the unincorporated area of the county. The focus of this Division's program is preventative maintenance and the protection of the public's investment in its road system
- Surveyor
The Surveyor Division is responsible for checking and processing Parcel and Subdivision Maps and Final Maps of Records of Survey for accuracy and compliance with county ordinances and with the Subdivision Map Act of the State of California.
